Movie Mondays

Come to the library on Mondays at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm for a different movie each week! Curious what we’re showing? Summer movie titles are listed on the slat wall in the children’s space and on our paper calendar. All movies are rated PG.

Note: Shows run from June 2nd through July 14th, but no children’s movie will be shown the week of July 4th.

Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Elementary Projects

Join Miss Cora each Wednesday at 10:30 am for a special art project at the Wamego Public Library this summer!

Programs are for K –5th grade.

Field of Flowers:  Wednesday, June 11th • 10:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Create a Field of Flowers art piece to take home using collaboration and creativity. Registration is not required.

DIY Wind Chime:  Wednesday, June 18th • 10:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Create and decorate your own windchime using clay pots and recycled materials. Registration is not required.

Directed Painting with Uncorked:  Wednesday, June 25th • 10:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Participate in a directed painting class led by Neal from Uncorked Inspiration to create a masterpiece. Registration is not required, but spots are limited to the first 40 participants.

Chaos Crafting:  Wednesday, July 9th • 10:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Help us clear out the craft closet for this project! Invite all your friends and create your own works of art using our leftover summer reading supplies.  Registration is not required.

Summer Storytime, June 5th to July 10th, Thursdays at 10:30 am, at Wamego City Park

Storytime at the Park

Join Miss Cora on Thursdays at 10:30 am for outdoor Storytime in Wamego City Park, near the bandstand, from June 5th-July 10th. Our rain location will be Wamego Public Library’s large meeting room.

 Storytime content is geared toward 2- to 5-year-olds, but all are welcome! Discover stories, songs, rhymes, therapy dogs, and book giveaways for encouraging your littlest readers. Our special guests will include Broken Canon Cosplay (sponsored by Honeycutt Construction), Miss Nancy, Stephanie from Toto’s Tacoz, Jan Johnson, and a face painter!

City Park Saturdays, Fun and games for the whole family, Saturday, June 7th and Saturday, June 12th, at 10 am, in Wamego City Park

Scavenger Hunt: Come to the library to pick up the form, from June 2nd to July 14th, turn in a completed form to enter a drawing to win a prize

Scavenger Hunt

Hunt for posters hidden in downtown Wamego! Stop by the Wamego Public Library to pick up your Scavenger Hunt form between Monday, June 2nd and Monday, July 14th!

Visit different businesses in downtown Wamego, find the poster, and fill in the object. Return the completed form by Monday, July 14th to enter our raffle basket drawing. Winners will be announced at the Summer Reading Finale!

Are you ready for summer? Can’t believe it’s already here! Join Kylee each week for a variety of summer programs! Pick up a reading log starting on Monday, June 2nd, and start logging your minutes. The top three readers will win a prize at the end of the season!

EVERYONE WHO TURNS IN THEIR LOG GETS A FREE BOOK! Turn in your log and pick up your book from July 18th – 31st.

Fishing with Dennis Biswell: Wednesday, June 11th • 1:30 PM @ Wamego City Park.  Join us as we learn about fishing and making lures with Dennis Biswell! Registration is required and opens Wednesday, May 28th at 10:00 am.

Teen (and Adult) Trivia Night: Tuesday, June 17th • 5:30 PM @ Wamego Public Library.  Join us and bring your best team of trivia players for a fun evening of trivia. Registration is required and opens Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:00 am.

Manhattan Community Orchestra: Wednesday, June 18th • 10:00 AM @ Iron Clad. Join us while we listen, learn, and play some musical games with some musicians from the Manhattan Community Orchestra! Activities are open to 6th – 12th graders; parents are welcome to stay and listen! Registration is requested, but not required, and opens Wednesday, June 4th at 10:00 am.

Painting Party: Wednesday, June 25th • 1:30 PM @ Wamego Public Library.  Join us for a guided painting class with Neal from Uncorked Inspiration! Registration is required and opens Wednesday, June 11th at 10:00 am.

Snacks From Around the World: Wednesday, July 9th • 1:30 PM @ Wamego Public Library. Join us as we learn about and try snacks from different cultures! Registration is not required.

Book Club:  Monday, June 9th • 12:00 noon at Wamego Public Library.  Join our monthly book discussion of The Muralist by B.A. Shapiro. Registration is NOT required.

Adult Craft Class – Paint by Number:  Thursday, June 12th at 5:30 pm • Saturday, June 21st at 9:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Enjoy a fun hour of painting by number. Registration is required and opens Thursday, May 29th at 10:00 am for both Thursday and Saturday classes. Ages 18+ only.

Adult and Teen Trivia Night:  Tuesday, June 17th • 5:30 pm @ Wamego Public Library.  Bring your best team of trivia players for a fun evening of trivia. Registration is required and opens Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:00 am. For 6th grade and up.

Humanities Kansas Speakers Bureau – The Civil War in Kansas:  Thursday, June 26th • 5:30 pm.  Join us for a free presentation by Will Haynes and Humanities Kansas about Kansas during the Civil War. Registration is NOT required. Recommended for ages 16+.

Documentary – VANISH: Disappearing Icons of Rural America:  Monday, June 30th • 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm @ Wamego Public Library.  Come watch the stories of those who are striving to save and maintain America’s disappearing rural structures. Registration is NOT required. All ages welcome.

Adult Craft Class – Beginning Weaving:  Tuesday, July 8th at 5:30 pm • Saturday, July 19th at 9:30 am @ Wamego Public Library.  Learn the basics of weaving. Registration is required and opens on Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00 am for both Tuesday and Saturday classes. Ages 18+ only.

The Art of Maude Mitchell:  Thursday, July 10th • 5:30 pm @ Wamego Public Library.  Join Kim Richards, Education Assistant at the Mariana Kistler Beach Museum of Art, to learn the history of local artist Maude Mitchell and her paintings. Registration is NOT required. All ages welcome.

Adult Class – Dutch Oven Cooking:  Saturday, July 12th • 9:30 am, Location TBA.  Join us for a hands-on Dutch Oven cooking class with the Biswells. Registration is required and opens Friday, June 27th at 10:00 am. Ages 18+ only.

Book Club:  Monday, July 14th • 12:00 noon, Wamego Public Library.  Join our monthly book discussion of The Monuments Men by Robert Edsel. Registration is NOT required.

Spice Club: Pick up a spice sample on Wednesdays, from June 4th to July 16th at 10 am or 5:30 pm

Whether you’re a foodie or just interested in trying something new, Spice Club is for you! Present your reading log each Wednesday at either 10:00 am or 5:30 pm to receive your weekly spice kit, which includes the spice, recipes, and a bit of history.
